In our contemporary world we hear more and more about "Animal Rights." What is this, exactly, and how should we, as Catholic Christians, respond? In this month that the Church designates as ' Respect for Life' Month, it is fitting that we learn where animal life fits in to this picture
.Led by Rondy Elliott, Holy Infant parishioner. Rondy earned the degree of Master of Theological Studies ( MTS) from Duke Divinity School in 1991. Before retirement, she was a therapist in private practice in Raleigh and Durham.
While at Duke, she focused much of her scholarly research on human-animal relationships as outlined in scripture and Christian tradition. She has given talks on this subject in many church settings, both Catholic and non-Catholic. In 1989, while a student at DDS, she initiated the Blessing of Animals Service at Duke Chapel, now in its 36th year.
