DeSales Center Renovation Status Update

The Capital Campaign has received pledges from 410 families totaling $2,396,552 towards the goal of $3,000,000 for the campaign. Additional contributions are being received through the offertory envelopes designated for DeSales Center Renovation.

The Holy Infant Building Team was created and started reviews and meetings with the architect in February 2024. Concept work and initial drawings were completed in October 2024 by Tise-Kiester Architects under a Feasibility Study and reviewed by the Diocese. As part of the Feasibility Study, a complete engineering review of the DeSales Center building and supporting systems was completed to get a baseline for the renovation.

Holy Infant has now contracted with Tise-Keister Architects for Architectural support and with McAdams Company for Civil Engineering support.

In November 2025, McAdams started the Civil Engineering process by submitting the first drawings to Durham for their review and comments.

On November 13, 2025, Father Robert, along with the DeSales Building Committee and our Architect, Tise-Keister, presented the system-level drawing to the Diocese Building and Real Estate (BRE) Committee for the Diocese approval of the project. The BRE recommended approval, and Bishop Zamara concurred with approval on November 21, 2025.

Holy Infant will return to the BRE with the Detailed Drawings on January 21, 2026, for a final review by the Diocese.

Holy Infant with Tise-Keister will send drawings and specifications to General Contractors to start the bid process in early February 2026.

With Durham’s approvals and issue of permits, the plan is to close the DeSales Center at the end of April 2026 and spend the first two weeks of May moving out of the building. About May 2026, the DeSales Center would be turned over to the contractor for construction/demolition activities with an estimated 18-month construction period.

If permits and construction proceed as planned, occupancy would be in November 2027.
