The project to upgrade the DeSales Center is steadily progressing.
Moving Forward
The plan is to close the DeSales Center with the last event on May 2nd.
During the first 2 weeks of May, assistance will be required to remove all items from the DeSales Center and put them into storage using the office, shed, rectory garage, and other potential storage spaces. Ministries that have items that require continuous use may need to store these in parishioner homes during the construction period.
About May 18th, the DeSales Center would be turned over to the contractor for remediation/demolition activities and to the General Contractor in early June, with an estimated 15-to-18-month construction period.
Anyone who is able to assist in packing up the items in the DeSales Center, please contact Michalene Sutton at [email protected] or (919)973-0013.
If you can assist with moving items into storage, contact John Martin at [email protected] or (919)973-0017.
Facility Plans and Construction
The Construction Drawings package has been submitted for Durham’s approval.
Bids have been received, and a General Contractor has been selected. The contract is being developed at this time and will be announced when signed.
Application for the Building Permit is in progress by the Architect and should be submitted within the next two weeks.
A remediation contract has been signed to remove all lead and possible asbestos items from the facility
None of these are in the air now, as all are in sealed items such as tiles.
