On Saturday, November 16th, the Durham Chapter of Sleep In Heavenly Peace organized a heartwarming "bed build" event thanks to the support of Holy Infant Church and the Knights of Columbus. With 58 dedicated community volunteers, 30 beds were assembled to provide 30 children with the gift of a comfortable bed - a luxury that many take for granted.
The event took place under perfect weather conditions, fostering an atmosphere of excitement and purpose among volunteers. For many of these children, this will mark the first time they have their very own bed. The initiative, titled "No Kid Sleeps On The Floor In Our Town," aims to address the issue of "bedlessness" in the Durham area through various means, including bed construction, delivery, and soliciting donations.
Those unable to participate in the event can still contribute by visiting the organization's website and making donations towards bedding and materials.
