On November 6, the Blessed Louis Brisson Council, Holy Infant’s Knights of Columbus Council, was presented with the Star Council award for the Fraternal Year 2023-2034. This is the highest recognition of achievement that can be awarded to an individual Council.
This award was presented to Grand Knight Jeff Spears by North Carolina Knights of Columbus State Secretary, Rick Lewis, who noted that this was the 5th year in a row that Star Council has been awarded to the Council at Holy Infant. He also noted that this Council had only existed for just under 6 years and had not been eligible to win Star Council in its first year, meaning that the Council has been awarded Star Council in each of its first 5 years of eligibility! This has never happened in North Carolina before.
The Blessed Louis Brisson Council of the Knights of Columbus serves Holy Infant Parish in a variety of ways, and makes significant contributions to various Charities, both financially and by providing volunteer manpower. Most recently the Council has facilitated the distribution of supplies from the Durham Catholic Charities location to victims of Hurricane Helene in Western NC and has actively participated in the re-establishment of the Durham Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The Blessed Louis Brisson Council currently has 73 Knights, drawn from Holy Infant Parishioners. It is open to all Practicing Catholic Gentleman of the Parish and welcomes new member inquiries.
