Holy Week and Easter Season

In the same way that Sunday is the summit of the Christian's week, where our activity of the week should both point toward and flow from, the three days from sundown Holy Thursday to sundown Easter Sunday are the summit of the entire liturgical year. The one light from the pascal candle, the light of Christ, shines in both directions, illuminating back to the beginning of the year in Advent, and forward through the Easter season to the end of the liturgical year in November.

April 6th: Holy Thursday
Thursday 7 pm - Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper: Washing of Feet, *Food Donations at the Altar, Eucharistic Procession to the altar of repose in Chapel, Adoration until 11 pm

Thursday 11 pm - Night Prayer in Chapel, reposition of the Blessed Sacrament

April 7th: Good Friday 
Friday 9 am - Morning Prayer in Chapel

Friday 12 pm - Stations of the Cross in the Church

Friday 7 pm - Service of the Lord's Passion, Passion of the Lord according to John, Adoration of the Holy Cross, Reception of Holy Communion

April 8th: Holy Saturday
Saturday 9 am - Morning Prayer in Chapel

Saturday 8:30 pm - Easter Vigil: Blessing and lighting of the new paschal candle, Candlelit processions into the church, singing of Exsultet, Story of salvation, Baptism, Confirmation & First Eucharist for our Elect, Renewal of Baptismal Promises and Sprinkling with water

April 9th
Sunday 8:30 am - Easter Sunday Mass

Sunday 11:30 am - Easter Sunday Mass, Incense, Brass

*You are invited to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to Durham Community Food Bank to service on Holy Thursday. Items will be brought forward to the altar during service.
