March 16, 2026Catholic Charities has issued a warning about a scam targeting individuals seeking immigration legal services. Scammers are falsely claiming to represent Catholic Charities and offering immigration assistance in exchange for money.
In this scam, individuals may contact potential victims through WhatsApp, text messages, email, or social media. They may ask for personal information and request payment for their supposed “help” with immigration services.
If you receive a message like this, do not respond. Instead, save the message and report the incident to Catholic Charities at (984) 900-3114.
The Catholic Legal Immigration Network (CLINIC) also provides resources to help individuals identify and prevent immigration fraud. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your local Catholic Charities office for assistance.
