Several Holy Infant members already volunteer with the Free Community Breakfast at St. Joseph's Episcopal Church in West Durham, and they would love more of us to join.
On Sunday, August 30th, from 9:45 to 11 AM, the leaders of the St. Joseph's Breakfast ministry will visit Holy Infant to share about their work. Please join us in the Parish Office Living Room to learn more.
Here is what the ministry is about, in their words:
Every week, all are welcome to a free breakfast at St. Joseph's, serving 70 to 80 food- and housing-insecure community members. Each morning a team of volunteers cooks grits, fries eggs, makes pancakes, and serves casseroles baked by friends and neighbors. Guests serve themselves on porcelain plates with silverware and tablecloths. They pick their favorite mug and make their coffee just how they like it. As one guest said, "On the street, I don't feel like a person. Here, I feel like a person." It is so much more than a meal. It is a Breakfast Community, a Beloved Community.
Come hear the story, ask questions, and see if God might be calling you to be part of it. No commitment needed, just come and learn.
