OCIA Volunteers Needed

OCIA volunteers needed! The OCIA team is looking for people who are open to sharing their faith and journeying with those who are becoming Catholic. Weekly, monthly or occasional time commitments are available! Check out the details below and contact Anna Lee if you are interested in learning more!

Inquiry volunteer - Volunteers are needed to help answer questions about the Catholic faith and share their own faith journey with people in the first phase of the OCIA process.
Inquiry sessions are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. Volunteers are needed monthly from 7:15 - 8:30 pm.

Breaking Open the Word Facilitators - At one Mass each weekend, candidates and catechumens are dismissed after the homily to continue spending time with the readings. Catechists are needed to guide that discussion and help reveal the way God speaks to us through sacred scripture. Because they are dismissed halfway through Mass, volunteers will need to attend another Mass in the same weekend in order to receive the Eucharist. We are looking for volunteers who can commit to facilitating Breaking Open the Word once a month.

Sponsors - Each person entering the faith receives a sponsor to serve as a mentor and friend along the way. Sponsors participate in weekly formation sessions and should have regular check-ins with the person they are sponsoring. Sponsors and candidates are paired up by age, interests, and personalities, so let us know if you would be willing to serve in this role and we will get in contact when we have someone who we think would be a good fit!
