We are only a few short weeks away from our annual celebration. Our parish focus for the year is in response to Pope Francis's apostolic exhortation The Joy of the Gospel. In his encyclical, Pope Francis writes, "The parish is not an outdated institution; precisely because it possesses great flexibility, it can assume quite different contours depending on the openness and missionary creativity of the pastor and the community." As Pope Francis calls us to this missionary creativity, our response is to focus our efforts as a parish on meeting the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of our parishioners and the greater Durham community.
We can think of no better way to kick off our focus than a celebration with food, music, and fellowship! The evening features live music, a BBQ dinner, and activities for kids of all ages. We hope you'll join us on August 26th following the 5:30 mass. This event is open to all parishioners, as well as family and friends - please bring guests - the more the merrier. Please bring a lawn chair if you are able, and a dessert to share as well.
There are many moving parts to our annual celebration, so if you are able we would love for you to volunteer. There are many ways to volunteer, most of which only require a short amount of your time. Volunteer roles are available for those of all abilities, so please look HERE to see the open roles.
We cannot wait to celebrate with you all! Cheers to a beautiful year to come at Holy Infant!
