Shining Christ's Light on Halloween

There are many legends surrounding the beginnings of the Jack-O-Lantern, but one thing that it represents is how much God loves you! He can take us, carve out all the yucky goop (like our mistakes, failures, and sins), put the light of Christ inside of us, and help us shine for all to see. You can remember the Jack-O-Lantern and how God wants to work in your life!

Consider taking these steps as you carve your Jack-O-Lantern this Halloween:

• We will open our minds so we can receive God’s message
  • Carve the top opening of the pumpkin
• We will clear our thoughts of any mean thoughts and prejudices
  • Clean out the innards
• We will open our eyes so we can see all the good in God’s World
  • Carve the eyes
• We will awaken ALL of our senses so we can be aware of all the goodness around us
  • Carve a nose
• We will share God’s message with our family, community, and the world
  • Carve a mouth
• We will let our light shine for all to see
  • Put a light inside the pumpkin
