Net-metered solar energy is an important asset to North Carolina and Duke Energy.
As such, many nonprofits have installed net-metered rooftop solar, and many others desire to add the resource to their buildings as well.
However, the recent changes to Duke Energy's net metering tariffs have made new solar installations a financial burden to nonprofits and are dramatically decreasing the ability of nonprofits to install solar. In addition, these recent changes to Duke Energy's net metering tariffs will also cause a significant negative financial impact to legacy solar nonprofits after 2033.
As such, we request that nonprofits be allowed to opt out of Duke Energy's net metering tariff changes and be allowed to keep solar net metering under the Legacy Net Metering Rider shown as "Learn more about your billing options" on this Duke Energy webpage.
